Rainy Days

Posted on: 8 May, 06

There is something about rainy days that inspires me to sew bright fabrics. Yesterday was a dreary, wet day with temperatures about 20 degrees below normal. It was dark outside at lunch time, it felt more like dinner time. I pulled out a piece of rayon batik to make a skirt. The fabric is pink with pale green and yellow tulips scattered about. I know the rayon will be glorious with the bias cut of the pattern.

Cutting rayon on the bias is a painstaking process. I am meticulous about keeping everything squared and lined up. However, the end result will be worth it. With any luck, I can start sewing this afternoon. Just seeing the pretty fabric in my sewing room helps chase away the dreariness of the weather.
