Cabin Fever

Posted on: 9 November, 06

The boys and I have been looking forward to this 4 day weekend for quite some time. There were no major plans, but the boys intended to spend much of the time with friends, probably playing video games. C woke up yesterday morning with a scratchy throat. He was suppose to spend the day at a Peer Mediation training seminar. At first I thought it might be just from allergies and his throat would feel better in a few hours. He started looking more and more pale with each passing minute. Ugh. I called to let the Peer Mediation coordinator to say that C was staying home today. They were disappointed that he was not going to be there and he was disappointed too. The steady stream of children who came to our door asking if they could play at our house were also disappointed. I was disappointed because I wanted him to have fun this weekend. He started running a fever around 9 a.m. so keeping him home was clearly the right move. It hurts when he talks so he is writing notes all day. It is creepy quiet without his usual chatter. He says it feels a bit like strep…oy. I will see how he is doing tomorrow and then decide if he needs to see the doctor. It is going to be a long weekend….and I don’t mean that in a good way.
